Since our founding during the administration of The Honorable Frank L. Rizzo, the work of the Authority has been supported and encouraged by all subsequent mayors: The Honorable William J. Green; The Honorable W. Wilson Goode; The Honorable Edward G. Rendell; The Honorable John F. Street; The Honorable Michael A. Nutter; and The Honorable James F. Kenney

Board Leadership

We have been fortunate to have had some of our City’s most distinguished citizens serve on our Board. Over our more than three decades of operation, our Board of Directors has been chaired by:

• Edward S. Toohey (1974 - first honorary Chair)
• James C. Giuffre , M.D. (1974-1980)
• John J. Egan, Jr.  (1980-1983)
• Timothy J. Michaels, M.D. (1983-1985)
• David W. Brenner (1985-1992)
• Mark A. Turnbull (1992-2001)
• Robert W. Bogle (2001-Present)

Our current Board of Directors also includes Vice Chair Theodore Burden, M.D., M.B.A. and James P. Baker, Jr.

Staff Leadership

In our 34 years of professional service, the management of the Authority has been directed by five executives. They include: Executive Directors Romanus Buckley, Phillip G. Carroll and Victor Ruby; as well as Presidents Donald A. Cramp, Wayne A. Mugrauer and current Interim President, James P. Baker, Jr..
